got one carb rebuilt

Finally got one carb done, and on to the next, but i have a couple of issues

the gasket does not FIT at all... AT ALL

and i got 2 pieces in my K&L carb kit that I didn't use

my idle screw is way high and thats even after i semi-machined the throttle plate down to get rid of the scratches, am I missing a trick?
